A group of S4 pupils were entertained for the morning during their Health and Well-being week by Mr Mahon, Mr Warner and Mrs Gemmel. In glorious sunshine, albeit somewhat windy, 20 pupils assembled four man tents, learned how to put together a stove and boil water for tea and hot chocolate and then put the tents away securely in the tent bags. Tips were given on finding North without a compass; folding away an airbed; putting in pegs at an angle and lots of other handy tips. In an evaluation of the morning pupils said they had a great time with the only wish that we could have been out their longer perhaps heading to the hills for a night. Maybe next year this could be arranged as a precursor to getting involved in the Duke of Edinburgh award that is offered at Maxwelltown High School.
